Process Mapping Process mapping is a sure way to establish a process and buy in from your staff. Have you ever wondered why some operators work better than others? Or why some seem to achieve more than others? Have you asked what is their secret? Well in order to find out Process Mapping is a great way of sharing processes and the 'how' things are being done. Indeed, process mapping can help identfy all the different ways operations perform their work and can identify what best practises are in use - and who is and is not using them. Blue Bear supports the identification of process, timings, functions and overall percentage of time. But we can also gather interesting facts like best practise and areas of work causing Delay, Motion, Duplication etc... All of the factors can determine your outputs and where they can be improved or shared. Process Mapping enables us to identify the non value added and waste activities that restrict the flow within a process, such as: Delays waiting for large consignments Time lost due to poor quality and rework. The impact of supplier downtime or later vessel loading Poor prioritisation of work causing delays. Inadequate documentation and process instructions. Inappropriate working sequence. Once these have been identified, ways to improve the system can be considered. A sure way to improve your supply chain is to Process Map it! We conducted a recent pole over the last month on LinkedIn to gauge companies view on data integrity and data checking for accuracy. We asked this poignant question, because senior managers are making IMPORTANT decisions and setting objectives and targets based upon data held.... DONT TAKE DATA LIGHTLY So important is data, it could literally mean life or death. Remember, both President Bush and PM Tony Blair ordered the death of people in Iraq, based upon the information, that there were "weapons of mass destruction". So what does our pole tell us? Over a 1000 took part. We have a real mixture of Corporations, SMEs and Operational, Middle-Management and Senior Management team votes across all sorts of sectors. I know Halloween is coming, but this IS SCARY FOLKS! 😳 SCARY: 25% of these votes: "Trust their data implicitly as being both accurate and true"🤪 EQUALLY SCARY: 25% of the votes think "We don't think it matters"🤪 ONLY 50% OF THEM ACTUALLY CHECK🤪 and the only positive (which I think is really a porky pie)... 0% think they "know how to check" 🤪 So at best, while "everyone thought" they knew how to check data, to make wonderful decisions, only half are actually checking, while a quarter blindly believe everything they are given. THAT IS SCARY 😨 If this is how we operate business in the uk then it makes perfect sense. 20% of all Customs Data is accurate at best. No one really checks and despite massive warnings like in this post, everyone knows but only 25% thinks it matters. GOOD LUCK Will you notice any deliberate spelling errors in this post. Data accuracy matters.
